The cheapest and easiest way to get content online is with free blogs.

Most of the methods presented here, to ethically earn money online, deal with owning a website, blog, or the ability to reach large numbers of people online (email, instant messaging, or forums).  Without attaining the interest of the masses it is difficult to earn any real money. If you are new to web design it may be best to start out with a free blog (or free sub-domain website) to get a handle of how publishing content online works.  Here are a few places to get a free blogging website-

Google Blogger

Live Journal

WordPress

Here are a couple places that will give you a free sub-domains & hosting-

50 Megs

Tripod / Angle Fire

Yahoo GeoCities

What should your website be about?

Pick something that you are already an authority on, interested in, or already have information about.  Choosing a topic that is drudgery for you to think about will make the whole process of developing the website miserable.  You also may want to consider the monetization possibilities of the topic you are choosing.  Obviously a website all about famous quotes will not have the earnings potential of a site about used cars.  Try to pick a topic that hasn't already completely saturated the Internet.  It will be far easier to get traffic to a site about "koi fish ponds", than it would be to compete with the thousands online selling "web hosting".
